Last year, in response to efforts by SC Club for Growth and others to shine a light on the mismanagement of Santee Cooper and the mountain of debt piling up for the utility and co-op customers, Santee Cooper launched its so-called “Facts are Facts” series.
According to the utility, Santee Cooper wanted to clarify certain details it believed were “being replaced with fiction or omitted altogether.” While we stand by the statements we have made about Santee Cooper and continue to believe that a sale of Santee Cooper to an investor-owned utility will be the best path for Santee Cooper customers and the state of South Carolina, we wanted to take some time to point out some recent examples of Santee Cooper claims that could use some additional fact-finding.
